Proof Cafe & Sky Lounge - The Signature Suites, Desa Sri Hartamas

The Signature Serviced Suites & Studio Desa Sri Hartamas is the latest boutique modern living, providing contemporary and lifestyle designer suites. This luxurious serviced residential is perfect for both business and leisure travelers searching for long or short stay. It also features a unique sky cafe with a different breathtaking city view unlike most of the rooftop bars situated in the city center.

The Proof Cafe and Sky Lounge has just recently popped up at the Sky Lobby of this chiq hotel-apartment. The cafe is catering well for leisurely breakfasts and brunches; serving both in-house guest and walk-in customers as early from 6.30am until 4.30pm or later. You can watch the sunrise and the sunset from this privileged new place.

Customers can choose to chill out at its lovely al-fresco area or opt to sit in comfortable indoor area. One of the cafe's owners, Constance keeps the cafe atmosphere cheerful with her friendly chatter and helpful service. Here, you can enjoy both coffee and alcoholic beverages, extra plus for offering wine. It goes further than most cafes to offer Seasonal Espresso Blend and Guatemalan Roast.

It has a simple modern design, comfortable seating with practical wooden tables. This newly start-up cafe operates with a limited selection of all-day breakfast and brunch menu.

As usual, I ordered Iced Milk Coffee (RM12) to ease my daily caffeine fix. It requires a smoother and richer coffee flavor to make a perfect cup.

The cafe provides complimentary bread served warm with salty butter and home-made orange fruit jam.

Proof's interpretation of Big Breakfast - Brekkie (RM23) is prepared simply with fresh ingredients. It comes with two poached eggs served on toast with beef bacon, savory chicken sausages, sauteed mushrooms and grilled tomato.

Another option of the Sunday Brunch would be Lamb Sausage Quiche (RM23). The pie crust is topped with chopped chicken ham and lamb sausages mix with the cheese. Continuous improvement needed for more crispy and buttery crust base.

Proof Cafe is yet to be one of my favorite brunch spots in the city center, it could be one of those secret hideouts with airy and bright space that is ideal for a lazy weekend and casual hangout. More polish is needed for both food and drinks in order to stand out among the competitors in the neighborhood.

Currently, they are working on upgrading their menu by adding more varieties for the upcoming weeks. So, stay tuned!

Mosano Coffee - Damansara Perdana

Mosano Coffee is situated in a quiet neighborhood in Damansara Perdana teeming with coffee shops, this quaint cafe stands out as a community hub. It's also a perfect hangout place to catch up with friends and family over a comforting cuppa coffee and a slice of delicious cakes. In current, shipping container architecture is not a new thing. Mosano Coffee also utilises the container concept which is functional, relatively easy to assemble, and creates a portable landmark and a lot of buzz around the neighborhood.

The interior of the cafe is also using its container design and some recycled materials to create the rustic feeling. The nicely designed spaces also serve as the neighborhood favorite cozy conversation spots for the coffee lovers.

After grabbing my quick lunch, I hunted down to Mosano to have my caffeine fix to make it all better for the day. I ordered a glass of Iced Cappuccino (RM13). It was truly a great reviving drink that satisfied my cravings but I would prefer if they could offer a stronger espresso flavor.

Here, the barristas were very helpful, cheerful and friendly on the whole. They recommended their signature open-face sandwiches topped with different type of toppings to choose from and priced between (RM6-8). I didn't opt for the sandwiches but instead a piece of Salted Caramel Cake. However, the cake was lacking of Caramel taste and moist texture as well as the pricing of RM16 for a piece of cake was a little too steep.

We ordered another hot Piccolo Latte (RM10) to try out their different coffee drinks. The latte tasted alright but I would prefer a stronger roast and flavor.

Overall, the coffee and cakes needed slight more improvement. Yet, we enjoyed its cabin concept with a lovely and laid back ambiance: cozy with both booth and tables! Perhaps another visit to try Mosano's smorrebrods and another plus point which it opens late until 2am during weekdays and as late as 3am during Fridays and Saturdays.

As a coffee lover, I often search for the city's best kept secret and undeniable hidden hotpots. Mosano Coffee definitely provides personality-enriched spaces that puts emphasis on individual's desire and sensation.

Metal Box Restaurant & Cafe - Empire Damasara Perdana

Metal Box Restaurant & Cafe is tucked in Empire Damansara which nestled in the heart of Damansara Perdana. Metal Box offers al-fresco dining area perfect for large groups and lazy weekend brunch. The restaurant is adopting eco-friendly design, using discarded shipping containers for more sustainable practices. After almost a year of operation, it has gained a noticeable increase in its crowds especially during the weekends. This place is definitely well-known for its comfort brunch with hearty warming coffee.

The interior of the restaurant incorporates a modern yet classic design approach. The interior decor  is also paired with many vintage filament light bulbs which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.

As usual, coffee is the thing to kick-start my day. I ordered my favorite Piccolo Latte (RM7.90) which was served in a small latte glass, brewed at the right temperature. It was also nicely topped with a thin layer of foam, just enough for some latte art.

We ordered the Red Benedict (RM 18.90) served with two perfectly poached eggs on a row of buttery and freshly baked croissant all served with sauté mushrooms, edamame, beef bacon and topped with homemade hollandaise sauce & red wine glaze. The croissant was fluffy from inside, crisp on the outside! No doubt, I enjoyed this unique French-Western dish wholeheartedly.

Next, we opted for Steak A La Minute (RM33.90), grilled Australian grass fed striploin steak (160gram) served with herbs roasted potato, sauté mushrooms and wilted baby spinach, creative infusion of the yuzu kosho butter sauce. Sadly, the striploin did not exactly meet our expectations. After cooking and resting, the striploin had a more tougher texture and a less-juicy inside, leaving a difficult-to-chew mess.

We also ordered Soup Du Jour (RM13.90) also known as the Soup of the Day is a tummy warming bowl of home-made Minestrone Soup. The soup was lukewarm and the broth was slight watery with chopped mushrooms, carrots and meat.

Though yet to be regarded as one of the best breakfast and brunch spots, Metal Box is still a decent choice to satisfy your morning coffee and brunch cravings especially within the Damansara neighborhood. Metal Box definitely have its own speciality dish and variations. I am coming back for my second visit to try out their signature Guinness Pancakes and Hemmingway.

KomPassion Thai Fusion Food - Damansara Kim

KomPassion is located in one of the most densely populated and busy neighborhood of Damasara Kim, sharing the same row with Kitchen Table Restaurant and EuroDeli Restaurant. It's a Non-Halal Thai Fusion restaurant that combines all the classic Thai dishes with some fusion elements.

The restaurant is dimly lit, by vintage glass lamps, with the great decoration of old-fashioned metal signs.

For a unique concept, its exterior and interior spaces also feature shipping container concepts on the walls. The premise was rapidly filled up with walk-ins and reservations at dinner time. Here, they also serve budget set lunch throughout weekdays and weekends.

The menu is rather wide ranging whether you are looking for individual servings or a complete meal with with dishes and fragrant rice. We started our night off with some finger-licking delectable non-halal Thai Pork Satay (RM 17.90). The pork satay is prepared in true authentic Northern Thai style, well-marinated, barbequed then served with a tasty peanut sauce and a white vinegar cucumber sauce. The peanut sauce led to a very rich and spicy satay full of true Thai flavors, truly loved it!

Get ready to tantalise your taste buds by the piping hot and spicy Fish Tom Yum Soup (RM45)! It is a clear, sour soup flavored with fragrant lemon grass and lime juice. The special kit for this tom yum soup is indeed the generous slices of fresh salmon, dory fish with mixed mushrooms.

Next, we ordered the Stir-Fried Paku Pakis (RM 18.90) as the simple vegetable dish. Here, this dish was perfect to whet our appetite as its crunchiness was spiced up by the garlic, red chili and saute dried shrimps.

One of my favorite Bangkok street food would definitely be the plump and TASTY Isaan sausage by the fermenting of pork and sticky rice! That's why I ordered this House-made Pork Sausage (RM33) with ginger -chili sauce which is a Northern Thai specialty. However, slightly disappointed despite the high expectation as the strong spices are actually overtaking the juicy pork meat and fresh crab meat.

Looking for an alternative to Thai Fragrant Rice ? Try the Brown Rice (RM3.50) which makes a good substitute as well.

They also have a few reasonably priced House Wines (Rm70 - RM110) that can fit into everyone's budget. Thai Singha Beer is also available here at (RM12). If you would like to BYOB to the restaurant, they charge a low corkage fee of (RM25) per bottle. So feel free to bring along a bottle of fruity wine to pair with your Thai food!

Definitely worth a visit and expecting a more extensive menu with innovative twist on the dishes from KomPassion!
